The actress in this clip went on to win the National Film Award for Best Actress for her memorable role in this movie.

Oh really? Show me the proof. Ash gets at least 2 film offers a day...doesn't mean she starts accepting all of them! Also, Ash knew Manichitrathazhu was a classic and can never be remade. Even if it is remade in Hindi, it needed to be done with a lot of care and dedication by the director. And the biggest turn off was in the form of Priyadarshan, who was directing it in Hindi. He turned it into a comedy! and such a bad comedy should I mention! Ash made the right choice by turning down the role!!

@nickcarter062001 Agree, Rajni is more of an entertainer. He knows how to pull the crowds to the theatre. To counter your arguement we have 4 times national award, Padmashri, Inai illa, Dr. Kamal Hassan. See his movies.

 of the movie ,in hindi&malayalam the heroine presumes shiney & suresh gopi in malayalam as it is their ancestral house & the hero is a
 descent of the king,they have facial similarities can' t understand how can such a superb concept be shattered,this is utter nonsense. if the orignal story writer sees the movie kundimuki (chandramuki) he will definitly commit suicide
